Terry Jones, Monty Python star and director, died aged 77

Monty Python member, author and director of Monty Python films died of a rare form of dementia this week.

The man who has been quoted most often for saying: “He’s not the Messiah, he’s a very naughty boy!” for over 40 years.

The quote, from Monty Python’s Life of Brian, is where he played many characters, most notably, the mother of Brian.

In 2016, Terry Jones’ agent revealed he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which, over time, affected his ability to speak as well as his memory, and is a rare diagnosis.

Terry’s last public appearance was alongside Michael Palin, shortly after Jones’ dementia diagnosis was revealed.

His last appearance was at an award ceremony in 2016, where he was given a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Michael Palin revealed he’s been very close with Terry, visiting him often, long before and after diagnosis.
